Philosophy Unbound #8 - UN/BOUND @ Flutgraben Berlin, 29/2/16

For the second time we are bringing Philosophy Unbound to Berlin. On Monday, the 29th of February 2016 we'll reflect on what binds us and how we can unbind ourselves at Flutgraben Berlin:

 

"Unbinding philosophy, what could that mean? This time we want to look at the relations that bind us – the ties and attachments, affects and affiliations shaping individuals and moving collectives.

A contract fixing rights and duties, emotional entanglements holding us tight. Light signals running through glass-fibre cables promising connection, debt bonds powerfully taking away the future. Secret societies, bonds of shame, wedding rings, chains: Material and immaterial bonds run through our lives, simulate security, distribute power.

How are the strings attached? The libidinous united? And how do processes of unraveling, unchaining, dissolution work?
Which bonds suffocate and crush? Which ones empower us and which ones do we need to reinvent?"

Als Teil des Kollektivs Antiquariat Kalligramm habe ich die Ehre zu einem Vortrag von Marcus Steinweg mit anschließender Diskussion, welche ich moderieren werde, einzuladen.

"Man kann Philosophie als Antwort auf die Frage definieren Was ist Philosophie? Das heißt nicht, dass es eine letzte Antwort gibt. Es bedeutet im Gegenteil, dass eine solche Antwort ausbleibt und dass die Unmöglichkeit einer abschließenden Beantwortung der Frage, was Philosophie sei, zu ihrer Antwort beiträgt. Es ist eine Frage, die sich immer neu stellt. Man philosophiert nicht, ohne mit dieser Frage konfrontiert, von ihr getrieben, ermutigt und verunsichert zu sein. Sie ist es, die das philosophische Denken in Atem hält."

"The Anti-Chameleon and its reason(s)" - audio-recording

I've just uploaded my talk "The Anti-Chameleon and its reason(s)" I held at Galerie de l'ERG in Bruxelles on 22nd of January. The talk was held as part of the "philosophy in the dark"-series and was therefore in the complete pitch dark. The three videos I showed were an excerpt from "The Yes! Men fix the world" (starting from minute 19: link), an excerpt from the documentary on Antanas Mockus (from minute 4: link) and Lars von Trier's Q&A for his film Melancholia at Cannes (the famous Nazi-incident).
