Posthuman Social Club goes Solarpunk @ Art's Birthday 2026 in RKH Vienna, 17.1

In times of prevailing doom and gloom, we of the Posthuman Social Club thought: let's go Solarpunk and hallucinate our very best futures together! We have been invited by the Austrian National Radio Ö1 to celebrate this years "Art's Birthday" and will rave about and into the utopian year 2233 in which all capitalists have gone extinct and we were able to establish a solid footing on a less and less collapsing planet. We will have amazing music, performances, DJs-Sets, food and other interventions. I will hold a workshop in which I will guide the audience to collectively hallucinate the content of this future by means of surrealist games - and will present the results live on Radio in the last hour from 23h onwards.

The Radiokulturhaus will serve as a gateway to the bright solarpunk future on 17th of January 2026! Come and join us!

Der französische Fluxuskünstler und Artʹs-Birthday-Entdecker Robert Filliou wusste, dass die Kunst genau an diesem Tag im Jahre 998.037 vor unserer Zeitrechnung geboren wurde. Die Wiener Künstler:innengruppe andother stage – die zu diesem Anlass aus der Zukunft kommen wird – weiß noch mehr: Im Jahr 2.233 sind alle Klimawandelleugner:innen ausgestorben – ja, wie die Saurier –, die Erde ist längst nachhaltig und James Tiberius Kirk erst ein süßes Baby!

Aus dem florierenden 23. Jahrhundert bringen sie uns den "Posthuman Social Club vol. 6 – Artʹs Birthday of the Eternal Network" als Geschenk: ein Fest für die Kunst mit ökofuturistischer Tanzwut, experimenteller Solarpunk-Elektronik, Performances, schmeckenden Ereignissen, Installationskunst und Radiobeiträgen aus einer dekolonialisierten Zukunft.

Gefeiert wird live im Studio 3 des ORF RadioKulturhauses in Wien. Von dort werden Radiokunstbeiträge in Echtzeit auf Ö1 von 22:05 bis Mitternacht übertragen und Streams ins Netzwerk der Ars-Acustica-Gruppe der European Broadcasting Union (EBU) via artsbirthday.ebu.ch und kunstradio.at geleitet.

So bringen Musiker:innen und Performer:innen ökofuturistische Tanzwut und experimentelle Solarpunk-Elektronik mit: die DJs auto_timer a.k.a Ricardo Eizirik (Brasilien/Berlin) und JSX a.k.a Jorge Sánchez-Chiong (Caracas/Wien) und, wenn nicht gerade tanzwütig, dann an ihren Instrumenten: Alfredo Ovalles (Venezuela/Wien), Kasho Chualan (Kurdistan/Canada/Wien), Samuel Toro Pérez (Kolumbien/Wien) und Isabella Forciniti (Kalabrien/Wien). Für schmeckende Ereignisse sorgen die Ökologin und Künstlerin Sabrina Rosina Brühn und der Kurator Hans-Jürgen Hauptmann, während der Künstler Otto Krauseräumliche Texturen und tragbare Interventionen gestaltet. Plattenspieler tauchen in der Turntable-Performance von Brigitte Wilfing auf, sowie in der „DJ-Holz“ Installation von Andreas Trobollowitsch, die akustische Dimensionen von Baumstämmen hörbar macht. Für Radiobeiträge aus einer dekolonialisierten Zukunft sorgen Studierende der Musikuniversität Wien. Von Kilian Jörg und Brigitte Wilfing wird das Publikum tanzend, spielend und spekulierend durch den Abend begleitet.

"Posthuman Social Club vol. 6 – Artʹs Birthday of the Eternal Network" wird von Brigitte Wilfing und Jorge Sánchez-Chiong (JSX) in Zusammenarbeit mit Kilian Jörg und andother stage konzipiert.

Next Wednesday, the 9th of July, will be a very special kind of book-release event around my book on the car "Das Auto und die ökologische Katastrophe". Together with the wonderful team of the Posthuman Social Club, we will do a interactive reading, performance, audio-visual concert mega crash thingy at the Super Autodrom, the biggest bumper car place at the Viennese prater! Das Rein-Menschliche ist im Anthropozän schlicht nicht mehr genug. Während sich große Teile des Posthumanismus mit Quallen, Oktopussen und Flechten auseinandersetzen, wollen wir in dieser Ausgabe des Posthuman Social Club dem im Mainstream sicherlich größten Begehren nach dem Nicht-Menschlichen widmen: dem Begehren, einen fetten Schlitten sein Eigen zu nennen, dem Begehren, mit 200 Sachen über eine leergefegte Autobahn zu brausen, dem Begehren, sich in einer spektakulären Karambolage in einem hitzigen Feuerball den heißeren Materien anzugleichen, kurz: dem Begehren, eine Maschine zu werden. 

Am 9.7 um 19h laden wir zur fünften Ausgabe des Posthuman Social Club ins Super Autodrom am Wiener Prater. Sind die ewigen Stöße der Bumper Cars eine hilflose sexuelle Annäherung, ein kompulsiver Zerstörungszwang oder beides? Unter dem Titel "Autodestruct me, baby" werden wir transdisziplinär dieser Vereinigung von Tanatos und Eros im bewegten Selbst (=alt. gr. für "Automobil") nachgehen und den Umstand zelebrieren, dass man mit einem einfachen Menschenkörper in den meisten Bereichen den Menschenwelt ziemlich nackt und alt aussieht. Vielleicht ist das Anthropozän viel treffender ein "Automobilozän"? Die Rhythmen der fordistischen Produktion und Bewegung diktieren unsere Alltäglichkeit, unsere Musik, unsere Wirtschaft, unser Sexualleben, unser Imaginär und unsere Raumplanung. Musikalisch, performativ und theoretisch werden wir in "Autodestruct me, baby!" den unausweichlichen Rhythmen der Automobilgesellschaft nachgehen. Das Autodrom ist hierbei vielleicht ein zentraler Ort, an dem die ihr inhärente Zerstörungskraft rituell durch den ständig wiederholten Unfall erfahrbar gemacht wird. Durch die zwanghafte Wiederholen des ewigen Auf- und Abflauen des nicht weg zu denkenden Verkehrs werden wir dem Geruch unserer Endzeit spürbar machen und seine kraftstoffgetränkte Euphorie ungefiltert feiern. Macht Euch auf ein Schleudertrauma gefasst und nehmt Kopfhörer mit - bei dieser Ausgabe des Posthuman Social Clubs werdet ihr alle Bruchpiloten unserer planetaren Autodestruktion!

"Building Hope at the Edge of the Abyss" at Posthuman Social Club @ AIL, 23.4.2024

I have managed to bring the movie about Isabelle Stengers, "Building Hope at the Edge of the Abyss", to Vienna! Together with the Posthuman Social Club we will devote an entire evening to the vast body of thought of my favorite philosopher and teacher. I will be giving a short introduction to Isabelle Stenger's body of work and after the film screening I will host a "Nachbefühlung" (not "Nachbesprechung") of the film with Brigitte Wilfing and Samuel Toro Pérez titled "Slowing down in times of catastrophe".

This 3rd edition of the ‹posthuman social club› is devoted to the philosopher Isabelle Stengers. We host the Austrian premiere of her bio-pic "Isabelle Stengers - Building Hope on the Edge of the Abyss", by Fabrizzio Terranova and are curating a program of performance, music, lecture and somatic experience around her' vast body of thought.
Isabelle Stengers is one of the leading influences not only for "post-humanist" discourses and practices, but for ecologically minded philosophy in general. Her decade-long work on sciences, politics and ecology has influenced many prominent scholars such as Donna Haraway or Bruno Latour,

With the 'posthuman social club' we want to think outside of the box of what has been labeled “the human realm of Reason” and develop new regimes of perception, sensuality and corporeality that can with care and afterthought lead us the way away from our humanist, modern form of making and thinking the world to more inclusive ways of sharing many worlds with other critters.
In the permeation of choreography and composition, with club culture, philosophy, ecology and media art we invite speculation of what a post-human social – or even a post-human society – could actually mean. We cannot overcome the euro- and anthropocentric, often misogynistic and racist tendencies of the „Enlightenment“ tradition overnight. The 'posthuman social clubs' are a sensual attunement, cultivation, celebration, exultation, differentiation and problematisation of these [post-human] desires.

Lecture in the Dark @ Posthuman Social-Club on 14.9 at Zentrum Fokus Forschung Wien

 

I have been invited to participate in a new trans-disciplinary format called the POSTHUMAN SOCIALCLUB and will hold its inaugural lecture titled "What is the Post-Human Social Club" next week, the 14th of September at Zentrum Fokus Forschung in Vienna. Come by, I will hold the lecture in a very experimental manner and the whole thing is designed to become something like a bigger trans-disciplinary jam session - excited how this will end up :)
